Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a term used to refer to a group of eye diseases that ultimately cause damage to the optic nerve. Unfortunately, there is no cure for glaucoma; but there are treatments available to help manage the condition and prevent vision loss.

Eye Pressure check

We use The iCare tonometer to monitor your eye pressure. It doesn't require anesthesia or air, it’s painless.

The iCare tonometer is a handheld device that uses a small probe to test eye pressure. It can be used to screen for glaucoma and to measure how well glaucoma treatment is working.

Tunnel Vision

In most cases, glaucoma persists with no symptoms until irreversible damage is caused to the optic nerve and vision loss takes place.

As the disease develops, blind spots will begin to appear in your peripheral (side) vision, causing an effect similar to “tunnel vision”.

Treatment management

Treatment for glaucoma typically involves lowering intraocular pressure through medications (eye drops or oral medications), laser therapy, or surgery, depending on the severity and type of glaucoma.

The goal of treatment is to prevent further damage to the optic nerve and preserve vision. Early diagnosis and proper management are essential in managing glaucoma effectively.
