A comprehensive eye exam is a thorough check-up for your eyes recommended yearly in most cases.
During this exam, an eye specialist will do several tests to make sure your eyes are healthy and your vision is clear. They'll ask about your medical history and any eye issues in your family. They'll also check how well you can see and if you need glasses.

You can simply relax and show up for your appointment; we'll handle everything else.
1) Your visit will begin with a brief questionnaire about your current symptoms and medical history.
2) We'll then prepare our state-of-the-art Pre-Diagnostic Test room for you, equipped with the latest technology.
3) Following the pre-assessment, our Optometrist will conduct additional tests in a dedicated room. By the end of your visit, you'll receive your prescription if needed.
4) Now for the most enjoyable part! You'll have the chance to explore our fantastic collection of eyeglasses and find that perfect pair that'll earn you countless compliments.

As per The American Optometric Association, it's recommended that vision exams commence before the age of 5, prior to starting school. This practice is known as preventive care. Early eye exams are growing in importance due to heightened risks arising from overexposure to sunlight and the increasing digital eye strain caused by extended use of cell phones and computers.
Equally crucial are routine annual eye health examinations, akin to your yearly physical check-up. Since numerous eye conditions and vision alterations can develop without noticeable warning signs, The Eye Works Optometry strongly advocates for regular annual eye health examinations.
Visual Field Test
The visual field test is designed to measure your entire scope of vision, including peripheral (side) vision, which is crucial for activities like driving. This test helps identify any blind spots or areas of decreased vision which might be signs of eye conditions such as glaucoma or issues stemming from neurological damage.
Our patients undergo a simple, non-invasive test where they look into a machine and indicate when they see light spots in different areas of their vision. This test is an essential part of the comprehensive eye exam, as it helps in diagnosing and managing potential vision-threatening conditions.
Health Evaluation of the Eye
The health evaluation is crucial for detecting any eye diseases or conditions that could affect your vision and overall health. We utilize state-of-the-art equipment to examine the internal and external structures of your eye. This includes checking the health of the cornea, lens, retina, and optic nerve, using tools like slit lamps and ophthalmoscopes.
We look for signs of common eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration, as well as indicators of systemic health issues like diabetes and high blood pressure. This comprehensive health check ensures your eyes are not only seeing well but are also healthy.
Visual Acuity and Refraction
This segment of the comprehensive eye exam focuses on determining the clarity of your vision and the best corrective measures, if needed. Our optometrists use a variety of tests, such as reading eye charts and using a phoropter to test different lens strengths, to ascertain your vision's sharpness and quality.
This helps us determine the right prescription for glasses or contact lenses, ensuring you achieve the best possible vision correction. Whether you're experiencing nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, this assessment forms the basis for enhancing your visual acuity.
